Booster Shot

Today we got our Corona virus booster shots at CVS. Any Marylander over the age of 65 can get one.

We got our flu shots last Friday. At first I told P that I didn't want to get the booster so soon after the flu shot. "Why not?" he asked. "Are you like your mother's cat?"

Mom (who lived with us for ten years, until she was 99) always insisted on multiple vet visits to space out her cat's annual shots. "You're not going to put all those vaccines into this tiny cat all at once," she told the vet when she was still living in her hometown. The vet allowed her to stretch out the visits. When she moved in with us, she told the vet the same thing. This vet just rolled her eyes and said nothing. Toward the end of the first annual visit, the vet gave the cat a single injection. Mom was immediately suspicious. "What did you just do?" she demanded.

"I gave your cat her annual shots. She'll be just fine."

Mom wasn't happy, but the cat showed no ill effects.

  1. So that is your third vaccination now? I heard this morning that Biden has just had his third. Perhaps it could be called the Biden Booster.

I can appreciate where your mother was coming from, as I chuck seven different tablets down my throat each morning and four each evening.

  2. I take as many pills as Andrew, and have no sympathy for the cat.

  3. An interesting theory. I don't think I'd want a Coronavirus booster and a flu shot too close together, either. It turns out I'm on the booster list (they're including educators), so I'll be up for that eventually, too.

  4. All I can think is that the first vet was smarter because that one was able to charge an office visit for each time the cat went in....lol

  5. love the cat story, still smiling. i just said 2 days ago, we must go get our flu shots and I am not going to get the booster but if i change my mind i would not get them at the same time. same day shots you would not know which one you are reacting too. not sure i want the booster. it has been only five months since our last shot. doc and pharmacist said not necessary. the talking heads of course all have a different opiinon

  6. Hah! Fun story!

In my area the roll out of booster shots is just starting. My wife and I are hoping to acquire ours within the next 3-4 weeks (fingers crossed).

  8. I remember when the "common wisdom" was not to have two different shots on the same day but the CDC's web site guidance says that additional evidence has changed that recommendation. I had my flu shot last Wednesday. I had my COVID booster yesterday. Interesting how that happened. Originally, I asked my doctor and he said, get them two weeks apart (this was in mid September before the boosters were opened up to everyone 65 or older in New York). Husband and I weren't planning to get the booster until next week. But Sunday, when CVS opened their scheduler for COVID boosters, the first question the scheduler asked was (paraphrasing) "The CDC says it is safe to get the flu and COVID shots at the same time. Should we also schedule you for a flu shot at your appointment?" I went to the CDC website and CVS was correct. So I went ahead and scheduled and we didn't wait the two weeks. That vet was onto something....

  9. Hello fellow Marylander! A small correction to your statement "Any Marylander over the age of 65 can get one." Any Marylander over the age of 65 WHO GOT THE PFIZER VACCINE can get a booster, but that leaves out the millions of Marylanders, like me, who got a different vaccine. I'm making this correction for a silly reason: it drives me crazy that news stories always leave out that very important detail. Too many people have asked me recently "haven't you got your booster yet? Why not, you have a blood cancer and are over 65." Well, I'd like to get a booster but I can't until J&J releases a booster OR the CDC starts recommending that we can cross-vaccinate safely.
Since I can't publicly make this correction in news articles, I decided to make it here. Thanks for the public forum! I feel better.

  11. As a person who is known to react to shots I have a no more than 1 in each arm rule. This way when I react I know which shot was the problem.

  12. I WANT TO USE THIS OPPORTUNITY  TO SAY A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO Dr Ogberaese, My name is Leonard Shirin i am so happy to share this testimony on how Dr.Ogberaese  healed me from genital herpes. i was detected with genital herpes around 10th may 2019, and ever since that day i have been looking for a way to end this virus from my body, but the more i try, the more i was told there was no solution. Few months ago i saw a testimony of some people on how Dr Ogberaese   cure them from HERPES VIRUS, i also heard about it on media when a young lady also gave her testimony saying Dr Ogberaese cured her oral herpes. I was left with no other hope than to contact Dr Ogberaese and give him a try. I contacted him  and told him what i was going through. He said he could heal me, that he is going to send me a herbal medicine and He sent the medicine as he promised. I took this herbal medicine for 1 week and it was obvious that his medicine was for real, because the herpes started clearing from my body. Later at  the 2 week, i went for medical check up and i was surprised when my doctor told me he found no trace of the virus in me again. At first when he told me, i was so shock and still did not believed until he gave me my test result. to make my story short i am now free from herpes, after many months of sorrow and my sickness is gone, i thank God for leading me to this man, and i want to also lead you to him if you have any illness like HIV, HPV, hepatitis B, asthma, cancer, Diabetes, COLD SCORE,TOOTH ACHE  FIBROID and AUTISM.  You can email him on drogberaese54@gmail.com or whats-app  him on +2348073818653.  visit him on his website:  https://dr-ogberaese-herbal-home.jimdosite.com
